What does a birthday cake cost in Sydney?

These are working estimates, not quotes or survey data. For a figure built from real DadsOrder bookings and your own guest count, cost your event.

Custom celebration cakes in Sydney work out to roughly $3–6 a serve, and tiered cakes $8–18 a slice. A single-tier cake serving thirty commonly runs $150–250; a three-tier serving eighty to a hundred and twenty, $500–800.

Start with servings, not tiers

Tell the baker how many guests need a full dessert portion, and whether other desserts will be served. Tiers are a design decision; servings are the costing unit. A photo alone tells a baker very little about the work involved.

Design changes labour, and labour is the price

Hand-modelled details, intricate piping, metallic finishes, sugar flowers and internal structures each require different skills and time. Sculpted and novelty cakes commonly start around $350 for exactly this reason. Share references, then ask what can be adapted to your budget — a good baker will offer a version that keeps the effect and drops the hours.

Delivery is part of the plan

A delicate or tiered cake may need professional delivery, venue access and setup time. Confirm the NSW event address, stairs, loading access, refrigeration and how the cake will be displayed — a cake that spends two hours in the sun is a different order.

Compare like with like

Check the stated serving count, flavour, filling, finish, topper, delivery, setup and GST treatment in every quote before comparing totals. Two 'two-tier' quotes can differ by fifty servings.
