What a Sydney wedding actually costs in 2026

These are working estimates, not quotes or survey data. For a figure built from real DadsOrder bookings and your own guest count, cost your event.

There is no single Sydney wedding price, but there are honest ranges. The two numbers that move a budget most are your guest count and your date: catering and drinks scale per person, and a midweek or winter date can cost 20–40% less than a peak Saturday.

Start with the two numbers that actually move

Guest count and date do more to your total than any styling decision. Catering, drinks and cake scale with heads; venue hire, photography and music largely do not. A 60-guest and a 160-guest wedding at the same venue are not the same wedding, and no percentage-based budget template can hide that.

Watch for the per-head number that already includes the food

Sydney reception venues often quote $170–250 per head. That figure usually bundles venue hire, catering and a beverage package. If you then budget separately for a caterer and a bar on top, you have counted the same meal twice. Ask any venue exactly what its per-head price contains before comparing it with a dry-hire quote.

Where the money tends to land

Across Sydney weddings the pattern is consistent: food and beverage is the largest line by a distance, photography is the largest fixed line, and flowers land near a tenth of the total. Use the ranges below as a sanity check on quotes, not as a target.

How to make a quote comparable

Two quotes are only comparable when they cover the same hours, the same staffing and the same inclusions. Ask every supplier to state them in writing.

What these figures are based on

Background reading, not a DadsOrder survey — no figure here is computed from a booking. Real prices move with season, location and availability, so treat these as a starting point and confirm with the supplier.
